Steps To-Marrow Send Off on Thursday!

On Thursday afternoon and evening, The Jada Bascom Foundation will be holding a "Kick off" for Jeana Moore's walk across America.  The event runs from 5:00 - 8:30 at Deer Park Middle School.  There will be a pie eating contest, a raffle, a silent auction and lots of family fun.

The foundation was formed to help raise awareness of the need for bone marrow transplanting and to help raise funds for the same purpose.  Jada Bascom was a bone marrow recipient before she was one year old and her leukemia is in remission.  Her family is trying to raise awareness of the issue as a way to give back.  Jada's marrow donor, who the family has not met, is a 30 year old from Germany.

Jada's grandmother, Jeana Moore, will be walking from Seattle to Los Angeles and then from L.A. to New York City over the course of the next eighteen months to continue to help raise awareness and money.

The public is invited to come to send Jeana off and to have some family fun.
